Incident Reporting

Students are encouraged to pursue academic and college-sponsored activities that support intellectual and personal growth. In doing so, students have the right to be free from unfair or improper actions by any member of the academic community. The following procedures outline how to address grievances and complaints.

Reporting a Campus Injury

If you experience an injury or are involved in an accident on campus, please fill out the Student Incident Report to provide important details and ensure proper follow-up

Discrimination Complaints

Report any discrimination within ten working days to the Supervisor or Administrator in charge of the area. For more information, contact:

Academic Complaints

  1. First, speak with the instructor.
  2. If unresolved, contact the Department or Division Chair.
  3. If the issue persists, complete a Student Complaint Form for further review.

Non-Academic Complaints

    1. Discuss the issue with the employee involved.
    2. If unresolved, contact the Supervisor of the department.
    3. If still unresolved, complete a Student Complaint Form for further escalation.

For complaints about institutional policies or procedures, submit a Student Complaint Form. If informal processes do not resolve the issue, you may consult with the Dean of Student Services about filing a formal grievance.

Student Rights and Grievances

  • These procedures ensure a prompt and fair resolution of student grievances regarding:
  • Sex Discrimination: As prohibited by Title IX.
  • Financial Aid: If the policy does not already have an appeal process.
  • Course Grades: As outlined in Education Code Section 76224(a).
  • Free Expression: Rights protected by state and federal constitutions.

Note: This procedure does not apply to student disciplinary actions or police citations, which have separate processes.
