How to Apply
We recommend meeting with an academic counselor early in the process. They can help with questions about prerequisites and can explain the potential impact on financial aid of earning multiple degrees and taking excessive units. Contact Counseling.
A Multi-Step Process
The MCCSN Nursing program is highly selective, accepting up to 40 students each fall. To apply:
- Complete prerequisites
- Take a nursing readiness course (recommended, not required)
- Submit your application
- If advanced to Phase 2, take the TEAS test
- If admitted, fulfill entry requirements

Current Cycle: Apply for Fall 2025
The application process is open each fall for entry into the nursing program the following year.
The next application window will open in September of 2024 for admission in Fall of 2025.

The MCCSN staff has compiled a list of potential costs to use as an estimate when considering nursing school enrollment.
These costs don’t include prerequisite courses, and may vary according to your individual situation.

Degree Options
Earn an associate’s degree from MPC and begin your career as an entry-level RN after licensing. You may choose to pursue a bachelor’s degree in CSU Monterey Bay’s concurrent enrollment pathway. In this pathway, you can work on your ADN degree at MPC and take BSN courses through CSUMB at the same time.

By adding coursework at CSUMB each semester, you can finish both your associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in three years. You can also opt to complete the BSN over a more extended period. For details, visit the CSUMB website.

Program Partnership and Accreditation Information
The Maurine Church Coburn School of Nursing, Monterey Peninsula College (MCCSN), offers the associate of science degree leading to RN licensure. The program is offered in partnership with Montage Health.
The California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) approves the School of Nursing. The most recent visit was completed in April 2022, resulting in re-approval for five years.
